HOUSTON, TX—APRIL 11, 2017—Graded stakes winners Just Call Me Carter and Fdp Rock Solid will make their sophomore debuts in Friday’s 350-yard Sam Houston Derby (G3) trials at Sam Houston Race Park.

Just Call Me Carter will be making his first start since May 27, when the gelded son of Carters Cartel ran second in a 350-yard Ruidoso Futurity (G1) trial in New Mexico. Owned by Joel Tipton and trained by Jose Sanchez, the gelding has earned $218,680 from just three outs, and his two wins include a neck victory in last year’s 330-yard, $540,000 Sam Houston Futurity (G2).

Just Call Me Carter drew post 3 and will be ridden by Luis Vivanco in the last of eight trials.

Fdp Rock Solid races for Sarah Huskey from the barn of trainer Esteban Rubio. A homebred son of Rock Solid Jess, the gelding will be making his first start since November 12, when he scored a neck victory in the 440-yard, $303,000 Black Gold Futurity Championship (RG3) at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Oklahoma.
