LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 12, 2017—Nine races will be on tap on Saturday evening headed by the running of the $20,000 Wheatland Handicap for Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, a highly competitive distance event featuring most of the top 870-yard runners at Los Alamitos. First post is 6 p.m.

The Wheatland is scheduled as the third race of the evening and will be part of the track's popular early Pick Four. Jose Moreno's Trickortreat is one of the horses to watch in this race, as he'll be going after his sixth win in a row, which is one of the longest win-streaks currently at Los Alamitos. Top rider Juan Sanchez will be ride the gelding by Second In Command.

Trained by Rafael DeLeon for owner Jaime Renella, Holidayincambodia has won back-to-back allowance races here and also figures to be a key player. The 4-year-old filly by Harlan's Holiday scored her last win by an impressive 1½ lengths after stumbling at the start on March 25. Owned by Ed Allred and from the barn of Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Club winning trainer Art Sherman, Well Maybe returns to Orange County after scoring a 3 ½ length win in a claiming event at Santa Anita. The Florida-bred will start from post one.

Others to watch are Tricky Liz, which has won her last two races by a combined 11 ¼ lengths, Truly A Pleasure Handicap winner Justamitch and Barbra B Handicap runner-up Miss Loujean.

There is one race for 2-year-olds on the card and it’s slated as the sixth of the night. It will feature Paul Blanchard's promising Corona Cartel colt Coronated, a full brother to three-time Grade 1 stakes winner PYC Paint Your Wagon. Coronated worked 220 yards from the gate in :12 flat. His was the fastest of 43 workouts on March 28.

Owned by Lazy Creek Ranch and the Delbert and Linda Reed Trust, the 2-year-old colt Fuel also figures to contend in the sixth. The son of Walk Thru Fire posted the seventh fastest of 43 works when working from the inside post in a time of :12.30 also on March 28. Five other juveniles will be in action in this race. Also on the card, keep an eye on Kindergarten Futurity finalist Stel A Wish in the seventh race, while Kindergarten finalist Brimmin Corona will race in the 300-yard allowance eighth race.
