TQHA Sires Cup Futurity Trials Draw 57 Juveniles

SELMA, TX—JUNE 13, 2017—A total of 57 2-year-olds, headed by Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez’s Shades Of Gray, has been entered in Friday’s TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity (RG3) trials at Retama Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from Friday’s seven 350-yard trials will meet in the $50,000-added TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity final on July 1.

A gray son of Ivory James trained by Javier Contreras, Shades Of Gray was a finalist in the 300-yard, $234 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs on March 22. The gelding drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jorge Linares in the first trial.

A Canadian Chill, a gelded son of Igotyourtac trained by Scott Hamilton for owner Cody Cobb, drew post 5 and will be ridden by Luciano Duenez in the fourth heat. A Canadian Chill has won two of three starts and has earned $17,323, and he was a finalist in the 330-yard, $266,000 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2) at Delta Downs on May 20.
