TULSA, OK—JULY 28, 2017—Mauro Mendoza’s Bad Neighbor, a son of champion Country Chicks Man and the fastest qualifier, is one of 10 2-year-olds entered back in Saturday’s 350-yard, $214,000 Speedhorse Futurity (G3) at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.

Bad Neighbor broke his maiden with a 1 1/2-length victory in the sixth of eight trials on July 15. A $7,000 buy at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the gelding drew post 7 and will be ridden by Daniel Torres for trainer Ramon Mendoza.

Political Attraction, a sorrel son of Apollitical Jess trained by John Weghorst for owner Rogelio Marquez Jr., drew post 4 and will be ridden by James Flores. The gelding has earned $75,838 from four outs, and his resume includes a third-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Cloud Ridge, in the 350-yard, $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes (RG3) for Oklahoma-bred juveniles at Remington Park on June 3.

Speedhorse Derby

Fastest qualifier Born To B Bad drew post 5 for Saturday’s 350-yard, $66,000 Speedhorse Derby.

A homebred son of Freighttrain B trained by Tammy Kay Johnson for owner Melissa Slayton and Cody Bowling, Born To B Bad was a prompt 8-5 favorite in the first of three trials on July 15. The gelding’s season resume includes a third-place finish, one length behind winner Maxx, in the 400-yard, $49,000 Adequan Ruidoso Derby Challenge on July 1.

Born To B Bad drew post 5 and will be ridden by Josh Romero.

Denis and Julie Schoenhofer’s Famousist, a son of champion Separatist and a one-time $10,000 claimer, is coming off of a Remington Park spring campaign during which he ran second, a neck behind winner Myst Fit, in the 350-yard, $251,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3) on March 25. The second-fastest qualifier, Famousist drew post 4 and will be ridden by Mario Delgado for trainer Jose E. Gamez.

Also on Saturday, Kendrix Brothers’ Dean Miracle Ladd heads a field of 10 juveniles entered in the 350-yard, $15,000 Cherokee Nation Stakes. The homebred Dashair gelding has won two of four starts, including the June 24, $15,000 Fair Meadows Juvenile Stakes, and he has banked $19,161. Dean Miracle Ladd drew post 8 and will be ridden by Mario Delgado for trainer Ed Hardy.
