HOBBS, NM—SEPTEMBER 13, 2017—Apollitical Ok, a graded stakes winner during the Ruidoso Downs summer meet, is one of 12 sprinters entered in Saturday’s 350-yard, $50,000 James Isaac Hobbs Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.
A 4-year-old son of Apollitical Jess, Apollitical Ok is trained by Joel Valeriano Jr. for owners Oscar Dominguez and Joel Martinez. The gelding has earned $71,434 from five outs this year, and his season resume includes a half-length victory in the 400-yard, $50,000 Mr Jet Moore Handicap (G2) on August 5.
Apollitical Ok drew post 6 and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez.
Born To B Bad, a homebred 3-year-old son of Freighttrain B racing for Melissa Slayton and Cody Bowling, will be facing aged runners off of his neck victory in the 350-yard, $67,000 Speedhorse Derby at Fair Meadows at Tulsa on July 29. The gelding drew post 4 and will be ridden by Adrian Ramos for trainer Tammy Johnson.
