ALTOONA, IA—OCTOBER 10, 2017—The Fiscal Cliff, a three-time stakes winner this season, is one of 12 Iowa-bred sprinters entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $60,000 Terrace Hill Stakes (R) at Prairie Meadows.
Trained by Kasey Willis for owner Tom Lepic of Iowa City, Iowa, The Fiscal Cliff will be shortening in distance off of his third-place finish, 1 3/4 lengths behind winner AJs High, in the 440-yard, $74,000 Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge Stakes (G3) on September 16. The 4-year-old homebred son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon has earned $98,287 from seven outs this season, and his three wins include a half-length victory in the 300-yard, $50,000 Bob Moore Memorial Stakes (G2) at Remington Park in April.
The Fiscal Cliff drew post 7 and will be ridden by Benito Baca.

Blue Eyed Andy, a 5-year-old son of Furrtreeous trained by Allen Hybsha for the Aspen Partnership, will face stakes company for the first time in Friday’s 870-yard, $25,000 Covered Bridges Stakes (G3). Blue Eyed Andy has won his last two starts at the 870 distance, both against allowance-optional claiming company. The Oklahoma-bred gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Berkley Packer.
Alfredo Botello’s Ferrari James leads a field of eight in Friday’s 440-yard, $45,000 Two Rivers Stakes (G3). Trained by Kirt Clark, the 4-year-old Ivory James gelding has won six of his seven starts at Prairie Meadows, including the 400-yard, $47,000 Keokuk Stakes on August 19. Ferrari James drew the rail post and will be ridden by Oscar Delgado.
