Elko County Fair will host the $35,500 Elko Intermountain Quarter Horse Futurity and $22,500 Elko Quarter Horse Derby on Monday's Labor Day card.

ELKO, NV—SEPTEMBER 1, 2018—Entering off two consecutive wins, Michael Mckell's First Won Down has been installed as the 5/2 morning-line favorite in Monday's $35,500 Elko Intermountain Quarter Horse Futurity a the Elko County Fair.

Trainer Jere Brinkerhoff will saddle the Utah-bred son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash. On August 25th he defeated Dust A Tac by a nose to get the 7th fastest time of :17.955.

Rich stakes experienced Silver Jet Dash (12/1) was the fastest qualifier for owner-trainer Freddy Olmos following a 1-¾ length trial victory in :17.546 seconds, a 104-speed index.

The son of multiple stakes sire Bodacious Dash has won three of seven starts but finished seventh in the John Deere Sandy Downs Juvenile in his start prior to the Elko trials. He has earned more than $24,000.

Fastest qualifier Texas-bred Dahteste has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite in Race 5, the $22,500 Elko Quarter Horse Derby.

Trainer Riley Moosman will saddle the stakes-placed son of leading sire One Famous Eagle for owner/breeder Christine Hudson. The royally bred filly has won two of five starts this season. She posted the fastest time in the August 26 trials off a third-place effort in the AQHA Sand Downs Distaff Challenge in July.
