Stakes winner New News will head a full field in in Monday’s 350-yard, $40,000 John Andreini Memorial Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.

RUIDOSO DOWNS—MAY 20, 2020—New News, a graded stakes winning son of the Corona Cartel stallion Majestic Cartel, will make the third start of his 4-year-old season in Monday’s 350-yard, $40,000 John Andreini Memorial Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.

New News will be making his first official start since March 1, when the gelding scored a victory at odds of 10-1 in the 350-yard, $50,000 Rio Grande Handicap (G3) at Sunland Park. New News has won four of 17 starts and has earned $178,111, and he was a finalist in last year’s West Texas (G3) and Hobbs America (G3) derbies.

New News drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jaime Parga Leos for owners Cesar Sanchez and Nathaneal Pallanes and trainer Janell Sanderson.

Other contenders include Three Bar T Quarter Horses’ Bluemoonteller, a 5-year-old son of Teller Cartel trained by Toby Keeton. Bluemoonteller ended his 2019 campaign with a four-race win streak in Oklahoma that included the 350-yard, $15,000 Golden Driller Stakes at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.

Bluemoonteller drew post 9 and will be ridden by Jerry Lee Yoakum.
