AJAX, ONT—AUGUST 3, 2020—A stakes-laden card headlined by the $54,500 PRINCESS DERBY will make for the most exciting day of Quarter Horse racing thus far in 2020 at Ajax Downs.

The Wednesday (AUG 5) day of racing also features the $40,700 Ontario Sired Maturity and two Trials for the upcoming Ontario Bred Futurity.

The Princess Derby is a 350-yard dash for 3-year-old fillies and 10 young ladies qualified by time in two Trials on July 22.

Tempting First Dash, undefeated in three races at Ajax Downs in 2020 since being purchased over the winter by owner/trainer Scott Reid of Lansdowne, ON, will be favoured based on her very easy win in her Trial.

Brian Bell once again will ride.

"Scott's been really taking his time with this filly," said Bell. "He's been very high on her since he bought her and the [pedigree] page on her is immaculate."

Tempting First Dash starts from post position 7.

Her main competition could come from Virtuosi, who won the first Trial for the Princess for Big Dog Racing of Carol and Dave McIntyre of Hampton and jockey Regan Knowles and One Kool Dynasty, an Ontario bred owned by Belinda Taggart who was second to Tempting First Dash in their Trial.

The Princess Derby goes as race six on the eight-race program which wraps up with the Ontario Sired Maturity, a fabulous field of 10 older horses including the amazing 8-year-old Fiesty Icon, who won this race in 2019 and last year's top Ontario-bred 3-year-old filly Shake It Twice, coming off a career best time in a win July 15.

The Ontario Bred Futurity Trials are races 2 and 3 on the action-packed afternoon of racing which gets underway at 12:55 p.m. (EDT).
