Twenty-Seven Juveniles Entered in Desert Classic Futurity Trials

PHOENIX, AZ—MARCH 30, 2021—Twenty-seven 2-year-olds, 23 of whom will be making their first career starts, are entered in Monday’s 300-yard Desert Classic Futurity trials at Turf Paradise.

Diego Creus’ Mister Bigg, a son of Big Daddy Cartel and a $17,000 purchase at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, drew post 8 and will be ridden by Mark Jasso for trainer Heraclio Botello Jr. in the last of three trials. Mister Bigg made his debut with a neck victory in a 250-yard, $5,000 maiden-special-weight dash at Turf Paradise on March 10.

BH Free Drop Billy, a son of Bodacious Dash and a half brother to multiple Grade 1 winner BH Lisas Boy, will make his debut in the first heat. Trained by Eloy Mendoza for owner Jose Aguilar Mendoza, the gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Hector Aldrete.

Javier Alvarez’s Empty Promise will make her debut in the second trial. A $30,000 yearling purchase at last year’s Los Alamitos Equine Sale, the Seperate Interest filly is a half sister to stakes winner and 2016 Sam Houston Classic Stakes (G2) runner-up Fly Thru The Fire.

Empty Promise drew post 7 and will be ridden by Mark Jasso for trainer Eric Valenzuela.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the April 28, $30,000-added Desert Classic Futurity.
