Eleven Trials Set Saturday for Hadley-Giles Futurity at Weber Downs

OGDEN, UT—APRIL 16, 2020—Weber Downs will kick-off their 2021 live racing season Saturday (April 17) with a 12 race card that features 11 trials for the $80,000-est. Hadley-Giles Futurity.

First post is set for noon (MDT) and the first trial (race 2) will go off around 12:25 p.m. All trial races will be contested over 300 yards.

Seventy-seven Quarter Horse 2-year-olds will make their career debuts hoping to score one of the 10 fastest times that will earn them a spot in the May 1 $20,000-added final.

A number of 'summer sale yearlings' are entered in the Hadley-Giles Futurity trials, led by $37,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate A Financial Hero.

Trainer Jay Pitcher will send out A Financial Hero, a sister to Hobbs America Derby(G3) winner Believe Me Irene, for owner Larry Stewart in trial 3 (Race 4). Jockey Nakia Ramirez has been named to ride the Valiant Hero filly out of Financial Leverage by Mr Jess Perry. This is the family of world champion Down With Debt.

Trainer Riley Moosman will saddle Tynacious in the second trial (Race 3) for owner Jim Nebeker. The $23,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate is a Dominyun half-sister to AQHA Racing world champion Bodacious Eagle and sister to Grade 2-placed Emnent.

Jesus Valenzuela will ride the brown filly out of Bodacious Dream by Corona Cartel. AQHA Champion breeder Bobby D. Cox bred Tynacious in Texas. Champion and champion producer Dashing Phoebe is the second dam.

In the eighth trial (Race 9) Moosman and Valenzuela join forces again with J R Stables $23,000 Heritage Place Yearling graduate Better Believe Her. The daughter of multiple stakes sire Valiant Hero is out of the multiple graded winner Believers Gathering by Agouti. Valley Junction Futurity(G2) winner None As Easy is the second dam.

Trainer Stan Young conditions Famous Carmilita, a $25,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling graduate who will start in the fifth trial (Race 6) under jockey Daniel Carillo. Moonshine Racing owns the filly by champion sire One Famous Eagle from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Carmilita. Bred in Texas by Paragon Farms LLC, Famous Carmilita is from the family of champions Eyesa Special and Dashin Is Easy.
