Fastest Qualifier Cyber Attack Draws Post 2 for Saturday's Rich Ruidoso Derby

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–JUNE 5, 2023–Cyber Attack, a California-bred son of Favorite Cartel and the fastest qualifier, is one of 10 sophomores entered back in Saturday's 400-yard, $895,633 Ruidoso Derby (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.

Trained by Chris O'Dell for owner Rosenthal Ranch LLC, Cyber Attack began his 3-year-old season with a head victory in the seventh of 10 Ruidoso Derby trials on May 28. The colt has earned $1,157,917 from eight races in New Mexico and California, and he ended his juvenile campaign with a three-quarter length win in the December 11, $1.884-million Los Alamitos Two-Million Futurity (G1).

Cyber Attack drew post 2 and will be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio.

Other contenders include Valeriano Racing Stables' Rock A Jess V, a homebred Grade 1-winning Apollitical Jess gelding. Trained by Santos Carrizales Jr., Rock A Jess V ended his 2-year-old season with a three-quarter length victory in the November 19, $1.209-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park.

Rock A Jess V drew post 5 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.

Also on Saturday, Sicario V heads a field of 12 3-year-olds entered in the 400-yard, $100,000 Ruidoso Invitational Stakes.

A gray son of Favorite Cartel trained by Santos Carrizales Jr. for owner Valeriano Racing Stables, Sicario V has earned $470,875 from seven races, and his record includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner Hes Judgeandjury, in Quarter Horse racing's richest and most prestigious race, the 440-yard, $3-million All American Futurity (G1).

Sicario V drew post 7 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.
