OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 9, 2024–A total of 189 Oklahoma-bred juveniles, led by Grade 2 finalist Billie Blues Girl, are entered in this week's 330-yard Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity (RG1) trials at Remington Park.
Twenty-two heats will be run, 11 on Thursday and 11 on Friday. First post time both nights is set for 6 p.m. (CDT). The five fastest qualifiers from each night will meet in the April 27, $775,000-est. Remington Park Futurity final.
A sorrel daughter of the Corona Cartel stallion Kiddy Up trained by Dee Keener for owner Kelly Yother Equine, Billie Blues Girl is coming off of a sixth-place finish, 2 3/4 lengths behind winner Joose Boxx, in the 300-yard, $502,000 Oklahoma Futurity (G2) on March 23. The filly was a $13,000 purchase at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Billie Blues Girl drew post 3 and will be ridden by Jesus Salazar in Thursday's second trial.
Other noteworthy 2-year-olds entered in Thursday's heats include Ima Relentless, a son of Hes Relentless trained by Marc Jungers for owners Caliche Walls Venture, Lance Bland, Alan Isabell, Gary Cain and Jimmy Barton. A $125,000 buy at last year's Heritage Place Sale, the colt made his debut with a neck victory in a 220-yard, $19,000 maiden-special-weight dash for Oklahoma-breds on March 7.
Ima Relentless is out of Ima Gator Fan, a multiple stakes winning daughter of the Storm Cat (TB) stallion City Place (TB). The colt drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jose Alvarez.
Friday's 11 trials are headed by Flirtacious Showboat, a daughter of Kiss My Hocks trained by Clint Crawford for owners Tyler and Naia Graham. A $40,000 buy at last year's Heritage Place Yearling Sale, the bay filly made her debut with a half-length win in a 300-yard, $19,000 maiden-special weight on a sloppy and sealed track on March 8.
Flirtacious Showboat drew the rail post and will be ridden by Jorge Torres in Friday's fifth heat.
Butane, a gelded son of One Dashing Eagle trained by Marc Jungers for owner Douglas O. Traylor, drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jose A. Alvarez in Friday's ninth trial. Butane is coming off of a nose victory in a 220-yard, $19,000 maiden-special-weight sprint on March 10.
