Texas Commission Moves to Repeal Instant Racing Rules

AUSTIN, TX –MAY 29, 2015—A Texas Racing Commission committee on Thursday took the first step toward repealing rules that would allow historical racing -- the replaying of past races on slot-machine-like devices also known as “Instant Racing” -- at horse and dog tracks throughout the state.

“It’s no secret that the Senate, and various parties, have actually said our funding would be withheld if we continued with historical racing,” commission vice chair Ronald Ederer told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Ederer made the recommendation to move forward with the repeal over the objections of some in the racing industry.

Horsemen are urged to let them know you will not stand for this and that Texas Racing depends on them pushing forward.
