Special July 4 Quarter Horse Program To Be Held at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino

SHELBYVILLE, IN—JUNE 19, 2020—Indiana Grand Race Course is gearing up for the first all-Quarter Horse racing day of 2020 set for Saturday, July 4. A special post time of 10 a.m. has been established to kick off an anticipated stellar program for the sprinters.

A larger than normal Quarter Horse racing program is anticipated for July 4 with the possibility of 15 races on the horizon. As a result, Indiana Grand has designed a unique format to accommodate the robust program.

"By offering our all-Quarter Horse racing program with a mid-morning start, we will be able to provide a full day of racing for our guests through simulcast," said Eric Halstrom, vice president and general manager of racing. "Also, pending the approval by IHRC (Indiana Horse Racing Commission), we hope to welcome back our on-track racing fans for the first time this season. The entire program will include trials for three upcoming stakes races as well as the final for the Indiana Grand QHRAI Derby. With such a quality program, we wanted the opportunity to capture the attention of as many horseplayers as possible in a time frame that could expose new fans to our Quarter Horse racing program."

Included on the program will be trials for the $75,000 Heartland Futurity, the $100,000 Jaguar Rocket and the $150,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity. All finals will be held the week of July 20.

Live racing continues through Wednesday, Nov. 18 with action held Monday through Thursday beginning at 2:20 p.m. Four Saturday programs are slated for all-Quarter Horse days set for July 4, Aug. 8, Oct. 23 and Oct. 24.
