SHELBYVILLE, IN–SEPTEMBER 27, 2022–
WRS Valentino, a homebred 6-year-old Mighty B Valiant gelding and a two-time stakes winner during the current meet, is one of 11 aged runners entered in Thursday's 440-yard, $109,080 Indiana Championship Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Trained by Randy Smith for owner Williams Racing Stables Inc., WRS Valentino has earned $55,518 from three starts this season, and his two wins include a half-length victory as the 4-5 favorite in the 400-yard, $50,000 Bradford Stakes on July 13. The gelding drew post 9 and will be ridden by Juan D. Marquez.

Other contenders include Brian L. Gunder's On A New Note, a 4-year-old daughter of One Fabulous Eagle trained by Randy Smith. On A New Note is coming off of a neck victory in the 400-yard, $84,000 Horseshoe Indianapolis Classic Stakes on August 18.

On A New Note drew post 7 and will be ridden by Shanley Jackson.

Also on Thursday, Glenn L. Graff's High Rolling Seize heads a group of 23 Indiana-bred sophomores entered in three 400-yard Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes (R) trials.

A homebred son of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon stallion Seize The Win trained by Matt Frazier, High Rolling Seize scored a nose victory in the 400-yard, $132,000 Blue River Derby (R) on July 23. The bay gelding has banked $265,067 from 14 races, all at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

High Rolling Seize drew post 6 and will be ridden by Shanley Jackson in the first heat.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the October 22, $100,000-added Sterlie Bertram Memorial final.
