$175,000 Corona Cartel Filly Tops Ruidoso Select First 50

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—Ruidoso Horse Sale Company sold through Hip 50 of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale catalog, before having to postpone their opening session due to a city-wide power outage (see related story).

The sale will pick-up again today (Saturday) at 4:30 PM (MDT) with Hip 51. The sale company will continue through the catalog's opening session horses (Hip 144), then go straight into Saturday's session, Hips 145 thru 288.

Sunday's closing session, Hips 289 thru 432, will not change and will start shortly after the final race on Sunday's card at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack.

Twenty-nine of forty-eight head offered on Friday night grossed $756,500 for a $26,086 average. The median was $17,500.

Canadian River QH, LLC paid $175,000 for high-seller, The Divas Dynasty, a daughter of Corona Cartel. Consigned by Juliana Hawn Holt, The Divas Dynasty is the second foal of AQHA Racing Champion Filly Kates Dynasty by FDD Dynasty.

Doug May paid $61,000 for Hip 5, Rustys Miracle, a sister to Texas Classic Futurity(G1) winner Rustys Lil Lady. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Bob and Jerry Gaston consigned the Valiant Hero filly out of Rustys Lil Lady by Fredericksburg.

The third high-seller in the first 50 was Hip 23, Demi More, a Corona Cartel filly out of A Tiny Bit More by Strawfly Special consigned by Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Double Bar S Ranch. Reliance Ranches, LLC paid $48,000 for the half-sister to stakes winners More Than You Know and Illtacmanhattan.

Canadian River QH LLC was the leading buyer through the first 50 with the one purchase for $175,000. Doug May purchased the one for $61,000 and Rachuan Suarez purchased three head for $55,000.

Julian Hawn Holt led all consignors with the one yearling for $175,000, Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Bob and Jerry Gaston had one for $61,000 and Bielau Oaks, Agent sold three head for $59,500.

Corona Cartel was the leading sale sire, by average with two or more sold, with three head averaging $82,667. Favorite Cartel had three for $21,000 and First Moonflash sold two for a $20,500 average.

Hip 42 Separate Intensions, a Separatist filly out of Serious Intentions by First Down Dash, will be resold on Saturday.
