Increases Continue Into Second Session of Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM---AUGUST 31, 2019Across-the-board increases continued in the second session on Saturday night at the Ruidoso Horse Sale Company's 2019 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

From 257 horses offered in the first two sessions, Ruidoso Horse Sale Company reported 231 sold, as gross receipts climbed to $10,794,700, a 17% increase over two sessions last year of 211 head for $9,254,000.

The two-day average of $46,730 is a 7% increase over 2018's two-day number of $43,858. The median has climbed 14% through two sessions to $32,000, compared with $28,000 a year ago.

Saturday's high-seller, Hip 249 Fly The Coup, was purchased for $250,000 by Jimmy and Marilyn Harrel, Lana Merick Bailey and Bradbury Racing from the consignment of Burns Ranch, Inc., Agent. The Favorite Cartel colt out of Grade 1-placed Babe On The Fly, by Strawfly Special, is full or half-sibling to 12 black type including Ruidoso Derby(G1) winner Rock You, Golden State Million Futurity(G1) winner Little Talks, Ed Burke Million Juvenile winner Ali Babe Foose, etc.

Mike and Beth Harper paid $200,000 for the second high-seller on Saturday, Hip 204 Ms Apollitical Jess, a daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess from the FDD Dynasty mare Ms Southern Dynasty. 6666 Ranch, Agent for Sam Green consigned the half-sister to Ruidoso Futurity(G1) winner Uptown Dynasty and Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Uptowne Babe.

Dr. Glen Blodgett purchased Hip 157 Prize Fight, a colt by Mr Jess Perry from the Corona Cartel mare Fast Prize Corona for $180,000. 6666 Ranch, Agent for Weetona Stanley & Burnett Ranches, LLC consigned the half-brother to five black-type including Grade 1 winner Cr Tuckernuck.

Reliance Ranches LLC led all buyers through two sessions with seven purchases for $855,000. Rachuan Suarez has purchased 14 head for $479,000 and La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC paid $420,000 for five yearlings.

Lazy E Ranch, Agent is the leading consignor or agent through two sessions with 30 head grossing $1,312,000. Burns Ranch, Inc., Agent has sold 14 head for $930,000 and Bobby D. Cox has 12 yearlings for $601,500.

Walk Thru Fire is the leading sale sire of yearlings (by average with two or more sold) with three head averaging $108,667. Corona Cartel has nine head for a $69,778 average and Tempting Dash has five head at $67,000.

Moonin The Eagle leads first-crop sale sires through two sessions (by average with two or more sold) with two for $39,500 and Jess Good Candy has had 20 yearlings average $35,525.
