RUIDOSO HORSE SALE—AUGUST 29, 2020—Magic Eagle Lady, a half-sister to champion 2-year-old colt A Revenant secured the top bid of $300,000 in the closing session of the 2020 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale held Saturday at the Lazy E Arena in Oklahoma.
For the two select yearling sessions the sale company reported gross receipts of $14,418,900 on the 315 sold from 375 head offered. This year's average of $45,774 is compared to $49,692 in 2019. The median held at $35,000.
Linda Gordon bought the sale-topper, Hip 540 Magic Eagle Lady, a daughter of leading sire One Famous Eagle, for $300,000. Consigned by Julianna Hawn Holt, the brown filly is out of Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Thewayyouwantmetoo by Mr Eye Opener. Magic Eagle Lady is a half-sister to four blacktype including aforementioned Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner A Revenant and Rainbow Futurity(G1) runner-up Belle Helene.
Dunn Ranch paid $220,00 for the third high-seller, Hip 519 In Hott Pursuit, a brother to two-time champion Hotstepper and half-brother to Ruidoso Derby(G1) winner Hotsempting and 2020 All American Futurity(G1) qualifier Caliente Caramelo. Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches, LP consigned the One Famous Eagle colt out of Pandorum by Tres Seis.
Burns Ranch, Agent led all consignors and agents with 22 head grossing $1,446,500. Lazy E Ranch, Agent sold 32 head for $1,436,500 and Lazy E Ranch, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC had 20 yearlings bring $1,325,000. Juliana Hawn Holt was the only other consignor to break the $1 million mark with 10 head grossing $1,069,000.
First Moonflash led all sale sires (by average with two or more sold) with two yearlings to average $112,500. Favorite Cartel had 16 head average $89,438 and Corona Cartel sold 23 head for a $64,087 average .
