Favorite Cartel Yearlings Top Los Alamitos Equine Solid Opening Session Saturday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 3, 2020—A pair of six-figure Favorite Cartel yearlings topped the opening session of 2020 Los Alamitos Equine Mixed Sale on Saturday.

The sale company reported a total 117 head of 151 offered sold for $2,681,200 for an average of $22,916. Last year's opening session had an average of $23,767 for 118 sold. Gross sales for the 101 yearlings sold on Saturday totaled $2,130,700 for an average of $21,096.

Legacy Ranch, Inc. paid $110,000 for Saturday's high-seller, Hip 66 Glass Ceiling, a daughter of 2020 leading sire of money earners Favorite Cartel from the multiple grade 1 producing Strawfly Special mare Babe On The Fly. Burns Ranch, Agent consigned the sister to Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity winner Little Talks ($563,897) and a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Rock You ($790,325). Glass Ceiling is also a half-sister to Ali Babe Foose ($484,614), the runner-up of the 2018 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity, and stakes winner Fly Thru Fire ($144,125).

Also consigned by Burns Ranch, Agent was the day's second-high seller Hip 114 Nationally Ranked, a colt by Favorite Cartel.. Ray Willis paid $105,000 for the bay colt from the One Famous Eagle mare Eagle On The Fly ($217,619), a stakes winning sister to leading first-crop sire One Fabulous Eagle and 2020 All American Derby winner Gold Heart Eagle V.

Rancho El Cabresto Inc. paid $95,000 for the high-selling broodmare on Saturday, Hip 100 Mischievous Player. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for John Andreini consigned the 10-year-old daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel. A half-sister to two-time champion and world champion sire FDD Dynasty, Mischievous Player is the dam of Rainbow Futurity(G1) runner-up Df Mischievous Jess. She sold in-foal to Favorite Cartel.

Rachuan Suarez was the day-1 leading buyer with 10 purchases for $180,700. Edward Allred had three for $113,000 and Linda Gordon paid $110,000 for two horses.

Burns Ranch, Agent was the leading consignor in session 1 with 29 head for $88,400 gross receipts. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for John Andreini had 18 head for $733,500 and Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent sold nine yead for $209,000.

One Famous Eagle was the leading sale sire of yearlings in session (by average, two or more sold) with two head for a $46,000 average. Apollitical Jess had three head average $43,333 and Favorite Cartel had 21 head average $40,405.

First-crop sale sire Fly Thru The Fire sold seven yearlings for a $14,171 average.
