Q-RACING JOURNAL—JUNE 4, 2013—Kelvin Childers has been reelected to the Racing Council. Childers was elected via a vote by Racing Committee members.

The nine-member Racing Council serves as a steering committee for the Racing Committee and Racing Department staff. Elections to the council are held every May, and elected members serve three-year terms. This year there was one position to be filled.

Childers is a familiar face in leadership. He served on the Racing Council for a term ending in 2011, and has been on the Racing Committee since 2005. Childers is an AQHA Director and has also served on a number of different committees. He was the Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association president for 10 years, and returns to that post this year. He is also the treasurer for the organization.

Childers and his wife, Nancy, are from Mound, Minnesota. Childers runs a print consulting and independent consulting business. Childers has been both an owner and breeder of racing American Quarter Horses. Among the horses he has raced is stakes-placed runner Sweet Dream Angel. He is also a member of the TAC Partners and TAC Ranch, and among stakes horses they have raced are stakes winners Wicked Nicole, Hot Hoofs N Traffic, Quattro and Feather Lite Touche.
