Lone Star Park Releases $2.46-Million Stakes Schedule, Track Opens Its Quarter Horse Meet September

Q-RACING—AUGUST 16, 2017—Lone Star Park will offer stakes purses worth a total of $2.46 million during its fall American Quarter Horse meet, which opens September 15.

Live racing will be held on a Thursday-through-Saturday schedule through November 11. First post time is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. local time.

Lone Star Park's stakes schedule is topped by the 400-yard, $1-million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) on closing night. The Texas Classic Futurity is the state's richest race for any breed.

Other stakes highlights include the 440-yard, $400,000-est. Texas Classic Derby (G1) on closing night; the 400-yard, $450,000-est. Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) and 440-yard, $175,000-est. Dash For Cash Derby (G3) on September 30; and the 440-yard, $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) on October 7.

Lone Star Park will also host two AQHA Challenge Championship regional qualifiers on September 29: the 400-yard, $25,000-added Merial Lone Star Distaff Challenge for fillies and mares, and the 870-yard, $20,000-added AQHA Lone Star Distance Challenge (G3).
