RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 29, 2017—The second annual Sam Thompson Memorial "Racing Youth" Scholarship Fundraiser will be held September 1 thru 3 in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.

A silent auction will be conducted in the Ruidoso Super Select Sale Pavilion at 100 Joe Welch Drive in Ruidoso Downs.

Thanks to generous donors and buyers the Sam Thompson Foundation awarded $33,000 in scholarships to "Racing Youth" last year.

"I will be the first in my family to receive a bachelor's degree," 2016 scholarship recipient Lana Grubb told the Sam Thompson Foundation personnel. "I have heard from so many of my racetrack friends stating they wish they could do the same. My hope is, they will realize if I can do it so can they. Your scholarship fund will allow others to follow their dreams as well," she added.

All proceeds from the silent auction will go to scholarship recipients who are selected from applications received from racetracks nationwide.
