A funeral Mass will held on Saturday, April 27, for former Arizona Downs Director of Racing Shawn Swartz.

PHOENIX, AZ–APRIL 19, 2024–A funeral Mass for Shawn Swartz, director of racing at Arizona Downs, will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 9:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona with a rosary being said at 9:00 am.

A reception will follow around 11:00 am at Turf Paradise Race Course's clubhouse with some food provided. 

Shawn was a friend to everyone and a tireless advocate for horse racing in Arizona whose expertise was widely admired.  Everyone associated with Arizona racing is extremely saddened by his passing. He worked at every track in the state even on the county fairs including Old Prescott Downs, Yavapai Downs, Turf Paradise, Arizona Downs, Rillito racetrack, and Santa Cruz County at Sonoita.
