Person's wanting to participate in the 2024 Texas Youth Racing Experience Day must sign-up by June 3.

ELGIN, TX–APRIL 24, 2024–TQHA in coordination with Sam Houston Race Park is hosting a Texas Youth Racing Experience Day on Saturday, June 15th at Sam Houston Race Park. 

Participants will be taken on a tour of the Sam Houston Race Park grandstand area, the saddling paddock, jockey’s room, and will also watch horses during morning training sessions.  

They will then be escorted into the stable area to meet and visit with several trainers as well as see up close some of the horses that participate in the Sam Houston Race Park races.  Parents are also invited to join the tour.  The tour should end before lunch.

Later that evening tour participants (and their parents) will be given free admission to Sam Houston Race Park and to watch Saturday's (June 15) race card from the TQHA suite. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served.   First post is 6:45 pm (CDT).

In the past this has been a very popular event with the youth members of the TQHA as well as with the show horse kids. 

"This year we would like to see as many of the racing family kids participate as well," Scott Sherwood, TQHA Director of Racing said.
