LIVINGSTON, LA–JANUARY 16, 2025–Michael Wayne Carlton, 64, of Livingston, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.

A celebration of Michael Wayne’s life will be held today, January 16, 2025, with visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the service at 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Hammond, Louisiana.

Born on July 16, 1960, in Hammond to the late Elliot and Dolly Carlton, Michael Wayne spent his life rooted in the traditions of family and hard work. He was a loving husband, stepfather, and grandfather who dedicated himself to creating a life full of love and more than a few lessons on how things should be done.

Sundays were especially special for Michael Wayne, as he looked forward to family meals and visiting with his friends, where laughter and conversation filled the back porch and barn. These moments of togetherness brought him the greatest joy.

Another highlight of his year was preparing for the horse sale, which became more than just a business event—it was an opportunity to bond with his close-knit community of friends.

The days spent prepping the horses for sale were filled with hard work, shared stories, and they were always a reminder of the strength of those friendships that had lasted for years. These moments were a true reflection of his love for his family and friends and the life he had built with them all.

Michael Wayne’s love for his family and the simple pleasures of life will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Above all, Michael Wayne was the best grandfather anyone could ask for. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren, whether it was sharing stories, or simply being there for them with a warm smile and open arms. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Tracey; his stepchildren, Cecil Landry Jr. (Kelly) and Derek Landry; his beloved grandchildren, Conlee, Riley, Cayne, Remi, Eleanor, and Aubrey; and great-grandchildren, Alaiya, Raedyn, Carlos, and Brandon Jr. He is also survived by his sister, Diana Canal (David); brothers, Bobby Stubbs (Ronnie) and Henry Carlton; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
