Due To Prolonged Winter Weather Remington Park Schooling Races Have Moved To Monday, February 17

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–FEBRUARY 14, 2025–Due to prolonged overnight winter temperatures, today's 13 schooling races at Remington Park have been rescheduled to Monday, February 17. Originally planned for Wednesday, February 12, the first race will now commence at 12:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Due to the freezing temperatures, the track over the tunnel is still frozen. Horse and rider safety is the upmost concern, so we are erring on the side of caution.

The track is scheduled to be open for training on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The schooling races are now scheduled for Monday at noon. Next week's schooling races are scheduled for Friday, February 21.

"We understand everyone's frustration. However, we hope you understand that safety is a priority. Let's all pray that mother nature cuts us a break on the next winter storm, and spring will be here soon!" exclaimed OQHRA management.

All training races at Remington Park are held at a distance of 250 yards. These events, commonly referred to as schooling races, are designed to prepare young two-year-olds for the start of their racing careers.

A horse that performs well in these training races and achieves a reasonable time is then approved for pari-mutuel racing by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission stewards.

The 2025 American Quarter Horse, Paint, and Appaloosa Season at Remington Park will begin on March 6 and continue until May 31.
