DELCAMBRE, LA–MARCH 20, 2025–A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ricky James Bowen at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre, Louisiana. Deacon Tim Marcantile will be the celebrant for the service. Interment will follow at the church mausoleum.
Family and friends will be gathered at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m.
Ricky passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his wife and loved ones.
Ricky Bowen was a man of humble beginnings. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family. Ricky was a man of few words but was always very happy to engage. He believed in living life one day at a time, filled with laughter and love.
Family and friends were the cornerstones of Ricky’s life. He enjoyed simple pleasures, such as hunting, raising Quarter Horses, working on his lawn, riding his tractor, tending to the crawfish ponds, and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lisa Broussard Bowen, son Kristopher Bowen (and his wife Emily), step-son Jason Huval, and three grandchildren—Peyton Huval, Ellionne, and Hudson Bowen. Ricky also had many nieces and nephews.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary Bowen, his brother Thomas Bowen III, his brother Kerry "Bow-tie" Bowen, and his nephews Matthew Bowen and Brock Bowen.
Pallbearers will be Kris Bowen, Peyton Huval, Jason Huval, Jed Migues, Beau Broussard, Matt Bowen and Bart Johnson.
Kallie Moneaux and Leah Falgout will serve as readers and Asa Trail, Talon Duplechien, Ellionne Bowen and Hudson Bowen will be gift bearers. Honorary Bearers will be Jerome Vincent and Kim Comeaux.
Ricky’s journey on earth has concluded, but his love, guidance, and kind spirit will forever be remembered by those who knew him. Ricky's journey through life was marked by the love he shared, the friendships he cherished, and the lives he touched. As we say farewell to such a special person, we take solace in knowing that his legacy will endure in the stories, laughter, and fond memories that remain in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Paw Rick. Your light will continue to shine brightly in the lives you've impacted.
The family wishes to extend gratitude for the care provided by the staffs at Southern Grace Hospice of Lafayette, Lafayette General Medical Center, and the Cancer Center of Acadiana,. Also, heartfelt thanks to Dr. V. Panelli and her staff.
