ELGIN, TX-JUNE 20– The Texas Quarter Horse Association (TQHA) reminds all breeders that the deadline to accredit broodmares foaling in Texas in 2026 at the reduced rate of $50 is fast approaching. After June 30, 2025, the fee will increase to $100.
This accreditation is a one-time process—once a broodmare is accredited, she retains accredited status for life. This is essential for anyone seeking to maintain eligibility for valuable Texas incentive programs, including breeder awards, which support the Texas racing and breeding industry.
Breeders are encouraged to act now to ensure their mares are accredited before the fee increase takes effect.
All broodmares must be registered with the AQHA or Jockey Club and accredited with TQHA as breeding stock. Any horse accredited with TQHA as racing stock must be re-accredited as breeding stock to participate as an Accredited Texas Bred broodmare.
A copy of registration papers must be submitted with the application — do not send originals.
Already Accredited?
If your mare is already accredited, no further action is required until it’s time to accredit her 2026 foal.
The breeding stock accreditation form is available HERE for your convenience. Please submit your application before the deadline to lock in the lower rate.
For questions or assistance, contact the TQHA office at 512-458-5202 or reply directly to this notice.
