Louisiana Festival of Racing stakes night returns to Evangeline Downs on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, with purses topping $2 million and The Louisiana Million (RG1) headlining the card.

Louisiana's Biggest Night Of Racing Will Be Featured On December 20

OPELOUSAS,  LA–DECEMBER 8, 2025–Evangeline Downs on Saturday, December 20, 2025, with total purses listed at more than $2 million. The card is built around the state’s biggest night of Quarter Horse racing and brings multiple graded stakes into one night.

The evening program is backed by five graded stakes events, including The Louisiana Million (RG1, $1,000,000), Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile (RG2, $100,000 guaranteed), Louisiana Champions Day Classic (RG2, $100,000 guaranteed), LQHBA Breeders’ Derby (RG3, $150,000 est.), and Louisiana Champions Day Derby (RG3, $100,000 guaranteed).

Louisiana-breds are featured in the Champions Day stakes lineup and the major LQHBA races, setting up the state program for a great closeout to the 2025 season.

LeVerne Perry Stakes ($35,000 guaranteed)
LQHBA Breeders’ Derby (RG3, $150,000 est.)
LQHBA Oaks ($150,000 est.)
LQHBA Louisiana Million Invitational ($50,000 guaranteed)
Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile (RG2, $100,000 guaranteed)
Louisiana Champions Day Derby (RG3, $100,000 guaranteed)
Louisiana Champions Day Classic (RG2, $100,000 guaranteed)
Evangeline Downs Derby ($125,000 est.)
Evangeline Downs Futurity ($300,000 est.)
The Louisiana Million (RG1, $1,000,000)

In addition to the racing, the LQHBA will award $25,000 in scholarships on December 20, including six $2,500 scholarships and two $5,000 scholarships.

Evangeline Downs will feature some of Quarter Horse racing’s top runners on December 20. Expect a packed grandstand, full wagering menus, and fields worthy of the purse structure. The Festival isn’t hype — it’s the night Louisiana racing proves what it’s about.
