OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA–JANUARY 20, 2026– The 2026 Remington Park American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season begins March 5 and continues to May 30. The schedule of 41 stakes events carries $5.6 million in estimated purses.
The cornerstone race for the meeting is the Grade 1, $1,000,000 (estimated) Heritage Place Futurity for 2-year-old Quarter Horses, running 350 yards on the final night of the season, Saturday, May 30. The Heritage Place Futurity leads a powerful concluding evening to the season known as Champions Night.
Champions Night will offer a dozen stakes events. In addition to the Heritage Place Futurity, there are four other stakes races that boast more than six-figure purses. They are the Grade 2, $275,000-estimated Heritage Place Oaks, the Grade 1, $250,000 Debbie Schauf Remington Park Championship, the Grade 2, $225,000-estimated Heritage Place Derby, the Grade 1, $100,000 Junos Request Stakes and the Grade 1, $200,000-estimated Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity.
Last year’s leaders of the meet were jockey Juan Pulido, trainer Dee Keener and owner 918 Bloodstock of Inola, Okla. Pulido won the riders’ race handily with his 67 wins. He was 24 victories ahead of runner-up Francisco Calderon, who finished with 43 wins.
Keener was the top trainer for the third year in a row with 54 wins. The Inola resident also was a runaway winner with a 26-victory margin over runner-up Matt Whitekiller, who made 28 trips to the winner’s circle.
The owners’ race was a much tighter battle as it came down to 918 Bloodstock and the Alcala Ranch of Jones, Okla. The entity of 918 Bloodstock outlasted Alcala Ranch with a photo finish 16-15 margin. When Vesper Martini won the opening race of the 2025 Champions Night for 918 Bloodstock, it gave them the title. That win gave 918 Bloodstock a two-win lead. While Alcala Ranch won the fifth race of that night – the FL Lady Bug Stakes with Relentless Knockout – to pull within one, they had three more chances to win in the seventh, ninth and 12th races. However, the best Alcala Ranch could do was a third in the Heritage Place Futurity.
The meet will run for 50 days with first post time of 6pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The first race on Sundays will go off at 4pm. There are three race dates with special start times including Saturday, May 2 and Saturday, May 16 – the Saturdays of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, both cards start at Noon. The Champions Night program will begin at 5pm. All times are Central.
The initial training races of the pre-season are set for Wednesday, Feb. 11. The training races are utilized by many trainers in order to ready 2-year-olds for their career pari-mutuel debuts.
