Horse Palace Gateway Opens Near UT-WY Border

EVANSTON, WY–FEBRUARY 14, 2026–Today, Wyoming Horse Racing LLC officially opened Horse Palace Gateway, a new gaming and entertainment destination located off Interstate 80 near the Utah-Wyoming border. Company leaders, local officials and community partners gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new venue, designed to serve travelers while supporting the regional economy and the horse racing industry

“We look forward to welcoming visitors near and far to this entertainment destination that will strengthen regional tourism and create new economic activity in the area,” said Peter Liguori, Executive Vice President of Wyoming Horse Racing. “Gateway offers a warm welcome, Wyoming hospitality and entertainment for gaming and racing fans.”

Horse Palace Gateway is located just minutes from the state boundary, offering Wasatch Front residents a convenient, close-to-home option for dining, gaming and live entertainment. The $26 million private investment includes a 30,000-square-foot facility featuring historical horse racing terminals, simulcast wagering, a premium steakhouse, live music and a Dunkin’.

“This project reflects years of planning and collaboration,” said John Sheldon, Executive Vice President of Wyoming Horse Racing. “Every element of Gateway was designed around the guest experience, from the layout to the amenities. We’re proud of the quality of the facility and we are grateful for the business partnerships, support from local officials and the community talent that helped bring this project to life.”

Opening weekend is being kicked off with a special live performance from Gena Marie Osmond and the Diamond Rush Band. Osmond is a second-generation member of the famous Osmond music family and a niece to Donny and Marie. The band’s performance marks the start of a full slate of live music and entertainment that will take place every week at Gateway.

WHR’s strong performance from its Swan Ranch location along the Wyoming-Colorado border proves the value of placing entertainment destinations in key border areas. Located just north of Colorado, Horse Palace Swan Ranch has quickly become a popular stop for Front Range visitors looking for an easy and nearby entertainment option in Wyoming. The property continues to bring new visitor spending into the state, supporting nearby businesses.

Properties like the Gateway Horse Palace also play a direct role in providing support to Wyoming’s horse industry. “The opening of the Horse Palace Gateway strengthens purses and creates long-term economic opportunity for the state’s equine industry,” said WHR Partner and President of Sweetwater Downs Eugene Joyce. “It’s especially meaningful to see this next chapter take shape in my hometown.”

The Horse Palace Gateway is conveniently located off exit three on Interstate 80 at 755 Prospector Drive, approximately four miles from the Utah-Wyoming border.
