ELGIN, TX–FEBRUARY 17, 2026–The Texas Quarter Horse Association has announced several important 2026 deadlines for participants in the Accredited Texas-Bred Program.
Owners of short yearlings — foals of 2025 — must have them Racing Accredited by March 1, 2026 to qualify for the $50 weanling fee. After that date, the fee increases to $100 and remains in effect through December 31, 2026.
If AQHA registration certificates have not yet been returned, breeders may still submit a TQHA Racing Stock Application. Horses may be accredited as “Unnamed” foals by listing “Unnamed” in the name section. Applications that are not fully completed will not be processed.
Breeders should also review mare eligibility. Any mare not currently accredited must be Breeding Stock accredited by June 30, 2026 to receive the $50 discounted rate. After June 30, the in-foal broodmare fee increases to $100.
Stallions must be Breeding Accredited by April 15, 2026 to secure the $50 fee. Following that deadline, the cost rises to $100.
In addition, stallion owners participating in the Stallion Awards Program — including those who annually pay the awards participation fee — must meet the second deadline of April 15, 2026. The annual participation fee is $150 if paid by that date. After April 15, the fee increases to $300 through December 31, 2026.
