ALEXANDRIA, LA–JUNE 5, 2026–The Louisiana Quarter Horse Breeders Association (LQHBA) is reminding horsemen and breeders of several important payment deadlines, upcoming stakes trial dates, and yearling sale paperwork requirements scheduled throughout June.
The first major deadline arrives on June 15, when the fifth payment of $500 for the 2026 Louisiana Million Futurity is due. The second payment of $300 for the 2026 LQHBA Derby and LQHBA Oaks is also due that day. CLICK HERE for additional information on sustaining payments and forms.
Yearling consignors should also be aware that all required sale paperwork must be submitted by June 26. Documentation required for the LQHBA Yearling Sale includes parentage-verified AQHA registration papers, a signed transfer, and a Louisiana-Bred Certificate. Additional sale information and forms can be found HERE.
LQHBA officials encourage members to use certified or other trackable mail services when submitting important documents to ensure delivery confirmation and protection of valuable paperwork.
Several major trial events are also scheduled at Delta Downs during June. The Firecracker Derby Trials will be contested on June 12, followed by the Firecracker Futurity Trials on June 13. Louisiana-bred runners will take center stage June 17 for the Louisiana Bred Oaks Trials and June 18 for the Louisiana Bred Derby Trials. The month concludes with the Lee Berwick Futurity Trials on June 19.
In addition, breeders are reminded to register all 2026 foals with the American Quarter Horse Association and complete parentage verification requirements as soon as possible to avoid delays in future eligibility and registration processes.
