CYPRESS, CA–JUNE 24, 2026–There will be no nighttime racing at Los Alamitos this Saturday night. Live Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing will return on Sunday night, with the program highlighted by a $38,393 Pick Six Carryover and the running of the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity for older horses.
The Orange County track is conducting daytime racing Friday through Sunday afternoon. Saturday’s card features nine races led by the $100,000 Los Alamitos Derby as part of the LACF Meet at Los Alamitos. First post on Saturday is 1 p.m. The LACF Meet continues through July 5.
While Los Alamitos has historically run day-and-night doubleheaders on weekends when hosting daytime Thoroughbred racing, the past two Saturdays have proven challenging to fill two full racing cards for a single day. As a result, the track will only offer day-and-night doubleheader programs this Sunday.
All overnight races originally offered in the condition book for Saturday will instead be carded on Sunday night as part of that evening's slate. The Pick Six on Sunday is expected to be a major draw for horseplayers, with total new money wagered projected to exceed $150,000.
Los Alamitos previously announced that there will be no nighttime racing on Saturday, July 4, with live racing returning on Sunday, July 5. That program will feature trials for the Governor’s Cup Futurity and Derby. For more information, please email larace@losalamitos.com.
