VILLE PLATTE, LA—JULY 9, 2026—The Quarter Horse industry is mourning the loss of Kimberly "Kim" Arabie Blanchet, co-owner of Blanchet Farms, who passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 62, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Known throughout the racing industry as "Kim," she and her husband, Chris Blanchet, built Blanchet Farms into one of Louisiana's premier Quarter Horse breeding, foaling, sales preparation, and racehorse development operations. For decades, horsemen entrusted the Blanchets with their mares, foals, and young prospects, knowing they would receive exceptional care.
Kim played an integral role in the daily operations of Blanchet Farms, helping to oversee its breeding, foaling, sales preparation, and racehorse development, which established the farm as one of Louisiana's premier Quarter Horse operations. Her dedication and attention to detail helped shape countless Louisiana-bred runners.
Under the Blanchets' leadership, Blanchet Farms earned a reputation for excellence while standing many successful stallions over the years, including Ajs Fast Dash, FDD Going Grand, Jess Elie, JLS Party Wagon, Reba Reba Corona, Tee Cos, and Triple Vodka, just to name a few. The farm also helped produce generations of Quarter Horses that competed at the highest levels of the sport.
Even as she battled cancer, Kim remained a source of strength for her family and friends. Her resilience reflected the same determination she brought to her work throughout her life, and she is now at peace.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Blanchet, her family, and many friends throughout the Louisiana racing community.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at LaVille Funeral Home, 2353 E. Main St., Ville Platte, Louisiana. Visitation will continue Saturday, July 11, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:40 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Chataignier, Louisiana. For additional service information or to view the official obituary, CLICK HERE to visit the LaVille Funeral Home obituary page.
The StallioneSearch & LQHBA family extends our deepest condolences to Chris Blanchet, the Blanchet family and the many friends whose lives were touched by Kim's life and contributions to the Quarter Horse industry.
