Defending Champion Bee A Freighttrain Returns For Another Win In The Rhoden Memorial Bonus Challenge

PRINEVILLE, OR–JULY 13, 2024–Just coming off the Director's Handicap victory at Grants Pass last month, jockey Jose Guerrero returned for the mount aboard Bee A Freighttrain to win the $24,475 Rhoden Memorial Bonus Challenge Stakes for the second year running at Crooked River Roundup on Saturday.

Bee A Freight Train flew to the outside for the win by a neck over One Famous Rock and rider Jake Samuels. The post-time favorite clocked a 102 speed index in :13.079 seconds. The 250-yard victory paid $5.00 to win on 5/2 odds.

Runner-up One Famous Rock placed second by a neck over The Rev Rocker and jockey Cesar Moreno.

Bee A Freighttrain is no slouch when it comes to winning. The Mario Portillo-trained colt has won 11 times and placed second five times from 18 starts.

His other top stakes wins include the Autumn Derby, Grants Pass Derby Challenge, Gary & Sherilyn Blattner Memorial Derby, and Emerald Downs Juvenile. The $11,748 winner's share of Saturday's challenge purse increased his earnings to $117,282.

The son of Freighttrain B has won nine of his 11 victories in stakes competition. Alberto Avila owns the four-year-old Utah-bred colt out of N Bee C by Apollitical Jess. Darian Burt bred the $26,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.

Trainer Mark Hanson conditioned One Famous Rock for owners RTM Stables LLC, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody, who purchased him for $45,000 in the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

Wetona Stanley bred the One Famous Rock in Texas out of First Prize Joy by Oak Tree Special. The five-time winning son of One Famous Eagle has earned $44,702 from 13 starts.

LG Racing LLC owns third-place finisher Rev Rocker, who has earned $65,948 with four wins from 16 starts. Debra Laney bred the $44,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate in New Mexico out of Mitey Moon by First Moon Flast. Jose Rosales Gomez saddled the son of A Revenant.

Warhock, Bv Mary Rose, Dc Ladys Dashn Eagle, Riddle and Dr Tool complete the order of finish.
