Karmalites Runs Fastest in Trials For John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge
Karmalites, under jockey Emilio Tapia, posted the fastest time from eight trials for the $157,641 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3) at the Downs of Albuquerque Friday.

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–JULY 26, 2024–Karmalites and jockey Emilio Tapia pulled away in the final strides to win the third trial race today and qualify for the $157,641 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3) at the Downs of Albuquerque.

The two-year-old filly won for the third time in six career starts, running 17.383 seconds for 350 yards, a 94-speed index.

Karmalites won the $215,000 Four Corners Futurity at Sunray Park on May 18. Racing for owner Fabian Porras, the filly is sired by The Marfa Lights out of the mare Cartel Karma by Corona Cartel.  David Gomez-Barraze conditions the Oklahoma-bred earner of $112,722. Paris Wixon is the breeder.

The juvenile finals will be held at the Downs of Albuquerque on Saturday, August 17. The winner will earn $72,514 and an invite to the $125,000-est John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2), which will be run on October 26 at the Downs of Albuquerque.
