Horseshoe Indianapolis Presents State-Bred Stakes Doubleheader on Wednesday
Fastest qualifier, Jess A Flying Train, will be running from post 2 on Wednesday in the $142,600 Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

SHELBYVILLE, IN–OCTOBER 6, 2024–Keith Bode’s Jess A Flyin Train, a chestnut son of Freighttrain B and the fastest qualifier, drew post 2 for Wednesday’s 400-yard, $142,600 Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes (R) for state-bred sophomores at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Jess A Flyin Train is coming off of a half-length victory in the first of three trials on September 18. Raced exclusively in Indiana this year, the gelding has earned $32,766 from five starts, and his record includes a second-place finish, a nose behind winner Tres Of Blood, in the open 400-yard, $115,000 QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby (R) on August 31.

Edgar Diaz will ride Jess A Flyin Train for trainer Claudio Barraza.

Also, on Wednesday, a field of eight Indiana-bred aged runners will be entered in the 400-yard, $83,100 Hoosier Park Classic Stakes (R).

Duke Racing’s Tachas Secret has won three stakes during the current Horseshoe Indianapolis meet, and she is coming off of a neck victory in the 400-yard, $86,000 Bob Woodward Stakes (R) on August 31. The 4-year-old daughter of Habits Secret is trained by Ricardo Martinez, who also bred the sorrel mare.

Tachas Secret drew post two and will be ridden by Fernando Morin.

Other contenders include Mr Michel, a 5-year-old Kiss My Hocks gelding trained by Claudio Barraza for owner Alberto Valadez. Mr Michel has won two stakes during the current meet, including the 400-yard, $50,000 Bradford Stakes on July 3.

Mr Michel drew post seven and will be ridden by Edgar Diaz.
