Stellar Field Returns for Saturday's Grade 1, $911,868 Texas Classic Futurity

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–NOVEMBER 13, 2024–A solid field of 10 2-year-olds is entered back in Texas' richest horse race, Saturday's 400-yard, $911,868 Texas Classic Futurity (G1) at Lone Star Park.

The 10 juveniles entered in the Texas Classic boast combined earnings of $2,433,628. Simmons Racing's Aguila Rapida brings in a three-race win streak that includes a 1 3/4-length victory in the September 2, $200,000 All American Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Albuquerque Downs. The homebred son of champion Tempting Dash also ran second, three-quarters of a length behind winner Hezgothelook Z, in the June 9, 350-yard Ruidoso Futurity (G1), and third, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Hezgothelook Z, in the July 14, 400-yard Rainbow Futurity (G1).

Aguila Rapida made his local debut with a clear 2 1/2-length win in his Texas Classic Futurity trial. The gelding drew post 8 and will be ridden by Bryan Candanosa for trainer Toby Keeton.

Fastest qualifier FDD Dreams broke Tempting Dash's 15-year-old track record when he won the fifth Texas Classic trial by 1 1/4 lengths in :19.196. A homebred son of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Xavier Rodriguez for owner La Feliz Montana Ranch, the bay gelding was shortening in distance off of his third-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Hezgothelook Z, in American Quarter Horse racing's richest race, the September 2, $3-million All American Futurity (G1) at Albuquerque Downs.

FDD Dreams drew post 5 and will be ridden by Luis Martinez.

Other prominent juveniles entered back include multiple graded stakes winner DK Marney Jess, a bay daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess trained by Juan Diaz Jr. for owner CH Horse Racing LLC. The top earner in the field at $490,459 from eight races, the filly has won seven outs, including the June 15, $622,000 Sam Houston Futurity (G2), and the March 30, 300-yard Louisiana Downs Futurity (G2).

DK Marney Jess drew post 6 and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr.
