SHAKOPEE, MN–JUNE 22, 2025—A trio of trial races will headline Wednesday’s racing program at Canterbury Park, as seventeen 2-year-olds compete for a spot in the upcoming MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity Final, scheduled for Thursday, July 10.

Each trial is set at 350 yards, with the ten fastest times across all heats earning entry into the $82,500-added final.

The first trial begins in Race 8 at 8:38 P.M. Features Louisiana Down Perry as the 8-5 morning-line favorite. A Louisiana-bred filly by The Louisiana Cartel out of Corona Down Perry by Coronas Leaving You is trained and owned by Haley N. Hobbs and will break from post position 2 with Fernando Fonseca-Soto aboard. Louisiana Down Perry has two career starts at Remington Park, including a runner-up finish.

The primary challenger is Hezz All That, a gelding by Hes Relentless out of Red Velvet. A homebred for Brenda Reiswig, Hezz All That is trained by Jason L. Olmstead and will make his first start of the meet from post 1 with Ramiro H. Garcia in the irons.

In Race 9, trial number two features the undefeated filly Holliewood (2-1), leading the second trial. Jason L. Olmstead trains the daughter of Hes Relentless out of Apollitical Mogul by Apollitical Jess for owners Tom and Bill Maher. She won her debut in convincing style and starts from post four under Armando Alvidrez.

Also entered is Babygotgoodatgoodbye, a filly by Eagles Fly Higher out of Sail On Candy. She finished third in her only start and looks to move forward for the training team of Edward Ross Hardy and owners Traci Scott, Corey Wilmes, and Paul Luedemann. Angel O. Ramirez will ride from post two.

The final heat of the evening is topped by Streak N Mi Corazon (2-1), a Minnesota-bred filly by Hawkeye out of Streak N Azoom. After winning her debut, she encountered trouble in her second start but retains her status as a strong contender. Bred by Dale R. Haglund, she is owned by Luis F. Valencia, trained by Haley N. Hobbs, and will break from the rail with Fernando Fonseca-Soto aboard.

Her main competition comes from One Cache Icon (5-2), an Arizona-bred gelding by One Famous Icon out of Ms Cache Queen. Owned by Melesio Arvizu and trained by Rigoberto Guillen, he broke his maiden in his second start with a two-length win. He will start from post 4 under Mark A. Jasso.

The ten fastest horses from Wednesday’s trials will return to contest the MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity Final on July 10, one of the richest and most prestigious races of the season for juveniles bred through the Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association’s stallion program.
