RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 25, 2025–A field of talented 3-year-old fillies will converge at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday for trials to the 2025 Rainbow Quarter Horse Oaks, which carries an estimated purse of $350,000.
The card will feature five 440-yard trials, with the ten fastest qualifiers advancing to the finals on July 12. First post is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. MDT at the New Mexico mountain oval.
One of the most accomplished fillies entered in the trials is Shaken Goin On, who headlines Race 2 as the 2-1 morning line favorite. The Freighttrain B filly, bred and owned by James Sills and Abel Flores, enters off a stellar season that includes victories in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Oaks and Grade 2 Miss Princess Handicap.
Trained by Rodolfo Valles and ridden by Justine Klaiber, Shaken Goin On brings a perfect 3-for-3 2025 campaign. Overall she has banked $312,208 with seven wins in 12 career starts.
Race 4 is stacked with graded stakes performers, including Rainbow Of Diamonds, who is set to break from post eight as the 2-1 morning line favorite.
The daughter of leading sire Apollitical Blood finished second in the Grade 2 Heritage Place Oaks in her most recent outing. Owned by Valeriano Racing Stables LLC and trained by Victor H. Rodriguez-Flores, Rainbow Of Diamonds will be ridden by champion Fransico Calderon as she looks to build on a resume that includes four wins and seven top-three finishes in ten starts.
Also in Race 4, Hott Temptation is another top contender with a recent stakes victory to her name. The Tempting Dash filly captured the La Pacifica Handicap at Los Alamitos on May 3. She is trained by Rodolfo Valles for Reliance Ranches, LLC, and will again be piloted by Justine Klaiber. Hott Temptation has earned more than $128,000 in her career and brings sharp recent form into the trials.
Drawing post two in the same heat is Ohana Spirit, a Tempting Dash filly with deep graded stakes experience, including a finals appearance in the $1.8 million Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1), Rainbow Futurity(G1) and All American Juvenile. Bred and owned by Gentry Farms and trained by John Stinebaugh, Ohana Spirit will be ridden by Ali Rivera. The Kentucky-bred out of Heartbeat by Tres Seis has earned over $194,000 in nine starts.
Another contender in Race 4 is Peepl R Scrambled, who has not started since finishing ninth in the $3 million All American Futurity last September. The daughter of Apollitical Blood, bred by Debbie Strebig and owned by Triple One Ranch LLC, has two wins from six starts and earnings nearing $96,000. Trained by Saul Ramirez Jr., she will be ridden by Bryan Candanosa.
Race 5 will feature Karmalites, who has been installed as the 2-1 morning line favorite. Owned by Fabian Muniz Porras and trained by Jorge Luis Sanchez, Jr., the daughter of The Marfa Lights has been a model of consistency this year with strong allowance efforts and multiple top-three finishes. Bred by Paris Wixon, she will be ridden by Luis Martinez and looks to add a trial win to her growing résumé.
With the final just weeks away, Saturday’s trials will serve as a pivotal step on the road to one of the most coveted titles in Quarter Horse racing for sophomore fillies. The blend of seasoned stakes winners and rising talent sets the stage for a competitive day at Ruidoso Downs.
