ALTOONA, IA–JULY 4, 2025–The spotlight turns to the juveniles on Saturday evening at Prairie Meadows as the $94,935 Hawkeye Futurity brings together ten of the fastest Iowa-bred two-year-olds in the state. The field, assembled from June 15 trial heats, will contest 330 yards in what promises to be a high-octane showdown in Race 3, scheduled for approximately 4:50 PM CT.

The ultra-talented filly Chew Bac Cah is topping the field, having already made her mark in just three starts, winning two decisively. Known for her explosive gate speed and relentless drive to the wire, she enters as the clear one to beat.

A daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess out of Paint Or More by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, Chew Bac Cah is campaigned by Lunderborg LLC and trained by Jason L. Olmstead, who will also saddle Cr Grey Goose in post five. Chew Bac Cah breaks from post position seven, the orange saddle cloth, and will once again be piloted by Ramiro H. Garcia.

Sfs Shooting Cowgirl, installed as the 9-2 second choice on the morning line, looks to challenge the favorite with her own momentum. The bay filly is sired by Flying Cowboy 123 out of Sfs Emma Jane by First Down Dash and delivered a sharp half-length trial victory to earn the second-fastest qualifying time. She’s posted two consistent efforts so far and appears primed for a breakthrough performance.

Trained by Edward Ross Hardy and owned by Sunflower Stables, LLC, Sfs Shooting Cowgirl will break from the rail in post position one with Angel O. Ramirez aboard.

Among the ten-horse field are several other promising juveniles who have flashed potential in limited starts, each looking to spring a surprise in one of the state’s richest futurities for Iowa-breds.

Race 3 on the card, the $94,935 Hawkeye Futurity, will be broadcast live on Q-Racing with post time set for approximately 4:50 P.M. Fans and connections alike can expect a thrilling contest as the next crop of Iowa stars takes center stage at Prairie Meadows.
