ATLOONA, IA–SEPTEMBER 22, 2025–The Saturday afternoon program at Prairie Meadows is packed with four stakes races that highlight the strength of Iowa-Breds and the depth of the regional racing program. First post for the stakes action is set for 4:00 PM (CDT).
The card kicks off with the Terrace Hill Stakes, a 400-yard test for Iowa-bred 3-year-olds and older. The 2-1 morning line favorite is Ab Boogie, the field’s richest runner with $195,951 earned from five victories and five runner-up efforts.

The short field of six sets up an intense battle to open the day’s stakes schedule.
The Polk County Derby Finals will follow at 4:25 PM and will feature the ten fastest sophomores who qualified from the September 8 trials.
The fastest qualifier and morning line favorite at 5-2 is Ajs Favorite Ia, a son of Favorite Cartel out of Df Aj Green Leaves (Apollitical Jess). Bred by Darling Farms, the gelding has been perfect this year with four consecutive wins, including the $57,000 Cyclone Derby Stakes and $40,000 Cy-Hawk Stakes, boosting his bankroll to $111,180.
He is owned by Stephen Moyle and trained by Alex Wessels. He will race from post six under Cristian R. Esqueda.
The competitive field of ten sets up a high-quality derby finale at the classic 400-yard distance.
The stakes continue with the Future of Iowa Stakes, a 350-yard sprint for Iowa-bred fillies and mares, three years old and older.
Foxy Cowgirl headlines the field as she looks to extend her winning streak to three. The daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 out of Foxy Millie (Valiant Hero) has captured the (G3) Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge Stakes and the (G3) Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge Stakes in her last two outings. With seven wins from thirteen starts and earnings of $197,176, the filly has been a consistent force for owners CLC Partners.
She was bred in Iowa by Christine A. Hovey. Foxy Cowgirl will be saddled by trainer Edward Ross Hardy and ridden by Angel O. Ramirez from post ten in a full field of eleven.
The day's feature is the Jim Bader Futurity Finals, restricted to Iowa-bred juveniles who posted the ten fastest qualifying times in the September 6 trials.
