ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 24, 2025–The Saturday afternoon program at Sweetwater Downs will showcase the best of the Wyoming-bred Quarter Horse program, with three significant stakes headlining the card: the $35,000-added WABRA Wyoming Bred QH Maturity, the $50,000-added WABRA Wyoming Bred QH Derby, and the $75,000 WABRA Wyoming Bred QH Futurity.

The action begins in race seven at approximately 3:30 PM and continues through race nine with three full fields of top regional contenders.

The first stakes starts with the Wyoming Bred Maturity, a 400-yard event featuring the ten fastest qualifiers from the September 14 trials. Installed as the 7-2 morning line favorite, Yo Morning Delite looks to defend his title after winning last year’s edition.

Brindis Por Cayenne sired the 5-year-old gelding out of Rs Afternoon Delite (Southern Corona), a multiple stakes winner with career earnings of $229,785 for breeder-owner Gerald F. Kaul. Conditioned by Jess R. Matt, Yo Morning Delite will break from the rail under regular rider Jacob Cardenas.

The fastest qualifier, Jkh Almost a Dynasty (4-1), adds depth to the field. The Jr Dynasty Mountain mare has captured multiple stakes and brings a record of seven wins with $111,916 earned. Bred in Wyoming by Gordon Knudsen and owned by UDM Investments, LLC, she will be saddled by Calli Van Tassell Dominguez and ridden by Gerardo Vera from post two.

With proven class and sharp trial form in the mix, the Maturity is a wide-open clash of seasoned Wyoming-breds.

The spotlight then shifts to the Wyoming Bred Derby, contested over 350 yards with the ten fastest 3-year-olds from the September 14 trials. The 3-1 morning line favorite is Papas Tribe, the fastest qualifier who has been knocking on the door all season with four runner-up finishes, including the $91,000 KC Carden Wyoming Bred Derby.

By Pappasito out of Tribal Fire (Fdd Dynasty), the gelding has earned $35,443 for owner Eddie Jensen. Trained by Jess R. Matt, Papas Tribe will be ridden by Jacob Cardenas from post two.

Looking to spoil the party is Outlaw Jess, a lightly raced colt on a two-race win streak, including last year’s $88,600 Ron Cook Accredited Futurity. With five wins from nine starts and $65,507 earned, the son of Jess Paint Me out of Josie Bassett (Maknmoves) is trained by Kylie Valenzuela and will break from post eight with Jose J. Olivio in the irons. This competitive field sets the stage for a fast and fierce Derby finale.

The stakes tripleheader concludes with the richest event of the afternoon, the Wyoming Bred Futurity, offering a $75,000 purse for the top two-year-olds over 300 yards. The fastest qualifier and 3-1 morning line favorite is Flying Rocco, a son of Flying Cowboy 123 out of This Chicks a Queen (Looking for Chicks).

With four wins from six starts, including a runner-up finish in the $226,000 Wyoming Bred Futurity, the gelding has already amassed $54,648 for breeder-owner J. P. Sample. Flying Rocco will start from the outside post ten for trainer Kylie Valenzuela with Jose J. Olivio aboard.

Second fastest qualifier Miss Pollys Train comes into the race in top form, having won her trial impressively by daylight. By Freighttrain B out of Political Bedlam (Apollitical Jess), the filly has four wins from six starts and earnings of $27,422 for breeder-owner Bill Doenz. Trained by Josh Taylor, she will break from post four with Julian Zavala in the saddle.

With three deep fields of Wyoming-bred stars across the Maturity, Derby, and Futurity, Saturday’s program at Sweetwater Downs is set to showcase homegrown talent and thrilling finishes.
