AURORA, CO–SEPTEMBER 25, 2025—Friday afternoon’s card at Arapahoe Park will showcase two sets of Colorado-bred trial races, setting the stage for a pair of lucrative finals next month.

The program begins with three trials for the Cherry Creek Futurity, which drew twenty entrants, followed by three trials for the Lucile Rowe Derby, featuring seventeen entrants. The Cherry Creek Futurity final carries an estimated purse of $98,000, while the Lucile Rowe Derby is projected at $67,000. Both finals are scheduled for October 12.

The first three races on the card, beginning at approximately 1:00 PM, are dedicated to the 350-yard Cherry Creek Futurity trials.

Kicking off the action is Cowgirls Miracle, who will make her second career start. Though green in her debut, the filly has impressed in the mornings since shipping into Arapahoe, posting the fastest workout times of the day in back-to-back drills.

Bred in Colorado by Sierra Hugo Barron, she is by Flare for Ivory out of Hooray Cowgirl (Separatist). Cowgirls Miracle races for Barron Racing, LLC, is trained by Jose Manuel Barron, and will be ridden by Marin Lazalde from post five.

The second trial features the likely standout of the afternoon, Dream Flyer, the only entrant with a career victory. She broke her maiden on April 1 at Arapahoe Park and has earned $4,540 in two starts.

The Colorado-bred filly is by Dreamnon out of Flying Rose (One Sweet Jess), bred and owned by Jose Dorado Garcia. Abraham Felix trains her and will break from post six under Valente Vorrath.

All twenty entrants will compete over 350 yards, and the ten fastest qualifiers will advance to the October 12 final.

Derby trial action begins in race four, around 2:15 PM, with three heats contested at 350 yards.

The opening trial features Paramounte Wagon Jr, who crossed the wire first in last year’s Cherry Creek Futurity before being disqualified. He has since redeemed himself in his three-year-old campaign, breaking his maiden at Wyoming Downs in July, and will look to build on that effort here.

The gelding is by Paramounte out of Jdbs Dream N Paint (Pyc Paint Your Wagon), bred in Colorado and owned by Rivera Quarter Horse Racing, Inc. He is trained by Alexander Orozco and will be ridden by Jose J. Olivio from post two.

The spotlight in race five will be on Russel, winner of last year’s $136,000 Cherry Creek Futurity. The Colorado-bred gelding has two wins from four starts and earnings of $59,838 for owners Celene’s Racing, LLC. By Pyc Fun N Fancy out of One Two (One Sweet Jess), he was bred by Bill and Marsha Drake. Trainer Chris Gandarilla will send him from the rail with Martin Lazalde in the saddle.

Among his challengers is the morning-line favorite, Sheza Fearless Eagle, a filly with national-level credentials. She has already qualified for two prestigious races this year—the $301,000 Heritage Place Oaks and the $703,000 Grade 1 All American Oaks. With four wins from eleven starts, she has banked $209,871 for owner Jill Cook.

The Colorado-bred daughter of One Fabulous Eagle out of Ima Fearless Fire (Tres Seis) was bred by Jill and Vaughn M. Cook. Trained by Fernando Manriquez, she will start from post five under new rider Mario Delgado.

Seventeen sophomores are entered in the Lucile Rowe Derby trials, and the ten fastest qualifiers will advance to the October 12 final.

The Arapahoe Park races can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
