ROCK VIEW COUNTY, AB–OCTOBER 9, 2025—Saturday evening’s race program at Century Downs kicks off in thrilling fashion, with the $20,000-added Aged Invitational Stakes set as the featured event on a competitive nine-race card.
Post time for Race 1 is scheduled for 4:45 PM, and a field of six seasoned runners will dash 400 yards in pursuit of top honors in this showcase for veteran Quarter Horses.
Topping the morning line at 6-5 is the formidable Miss Fancy Nancy, who has been nothing short of dominant across Alberta's stakes circuit over the past two seasons. Now four years old, the mare boasts an impressive résumé, including victories in the 2024 Alberta Bred Derby, the $21,000 CTM Princess Stakes, the $21,000 CTM Sprint Stakes, and most recently, the $21,000 Century Downs Cup Classic Maturity Stakes.
With seven wins and six second-place finishes from a consistent campaign, Miss Fancy Nancy has amassed $97,262 in career earnings. Bred in Alberta by her owners Jancie and Barry Sather, the daughter of Big Lew, out of Singles Cruise by Favorite Cartel, was homebred with high expectations — and she continues to deliver. She will break from post four, trained by Misael Moreno and ridden by Daniel Tavares.
Looming as a major threat is Fired, the 8-5 second choice on the morning line. Though not as prolific in the win column, the five-year-old gelding has built a reputation for incredible consistency. A five-time winner with nine runner-up finishes, he’s collected $83,526 in earnings for owner Jerry Stojan, who acquired the gelding for $18,000 from the Los Alamitos Sale.
Sired by Fly Thru the Fire, out of the Separatist mare Ruths Chris, Fired was bred in California by noted breeder Steve D. Burns, DVM. He enters the Aged Invitational Stakes for trainer William H. Leech and will break from post two under jockey Ricardo Moreno.
While Miss Fancy Nancy and Fired are the headline names, the remaining entrants in the six-horse field bring a wealth of experience and speed to the table. Each runner in this veteran field is battle-tested, and with a short but high-quality lineup, the early break and racing luck could make all the difference in this 400-yard sprint.
The $20,000-added Aged Invitational Stakes is more than just a seasonal feature; it’s a celebration of class, longevity, and racing spirit among Alberta’s elite aged runners. With proven stakes winners and consistent performers facing off, race fans can expect fireworks as these veterans clash in Saturday’s opening event.
Be sure to be trackside or tuned in early, as post time is set for 4:45 PM. The Aged Invitational Stakes promises a fast and furious start to a strong night of racing at Century Downs.
