MILLARVILLE, AB–JUNE 30, 2026–Wednesday afternoon racing at Millarville Park gets underway with a six-race card beginning at 1:15 p.m., and the featured event is the opener. A field of six Quarter Horses, three-year-olds and older, will line up to contest the $15,000 Millarville Maturity Stakes at 300 yards, shaping up as a competitive start to the program.
Flash Me a Corona has been installed as the 7-5 morning-line favorite and will make his third start of the 2026 campaign. The four-year-old gelding enters off a fourth-place finish in late May and returns after nearly a month of preparation, aiming to regain the form that made him one of Alberta's top runners last season. During his outstanding 2025 campaign, he captured the Alberta Bred Derby, the Alberta Stallion Stakes Derby, and the All-Canadian Derby.
Flash Me a Corona, owned by Janet Patriquin and Ralph E. Danard, has earned $83,829 from 20 career starts, compiling an impressive record of eight victories, two runner-up finishes, and seven thirds. The gelding was purchased for $7,400 at the AQHRA Canada Quarter Horse Cup & Mixed Sale.
The son of Obsessed With Corona is out of the First Moonflash mare Look Back Moonflash and was bred in Alberta by Ralph Danard. Trained by Craig Robert Smith, he will break from post three, with Trevor Simpson aboard.
While Flash Me a Corona brings the strongest résumé to the race, the compact field of six presents a competitive challenge, with several experienced runners capable of making an impact over the 300-yard distance. A sharp start will be critical, and the opener has the potential to produce a tightly contested finish as the Millarville Maturity Stakes launches Wednesday's card.
