Country Quick Dash Passes Away

WAGONER, OK–AUGUST 26, 2024–Rafter SM Ranch's renowned stallion, Country Quick Dash, passed away suddenly Monday morning at age 27.

Rafter SM Ranch's owner Sparky Mullins went to feed Country Quick Dash on Sunday evening. He came up to eat and was his usual self. When he went to check on him the following day, he had passed during the night.

Mullins said with much emotion of the stallion he so affectionately called 'Bubba': "He is a big part of our family." Country Quick Dash will be buried on their farm in Wagoner, Oklahoma.

Country Quick Dash has led a stellar career both in the breeding shed and on the racetrack.

The son of Royal Quick Dash earned APHA Champion honors four times, twice in 1999, once in 2000, and again in 2001 without ever winning a stakes race. He placed or showed in seven different events over those years and was a finalist in equally as many. He earned nearly $62,000 on the track with a record of 7-10-12 from 42 starts.

Country Quick Dash retired from racing in 2002, and the AQHA/APHA double register stallion launched his second career in the breeding barn. He topped the charts every year as a leading sire and is currently the #4 All-Time Leading APHA Sire of Money Earners.

Country Quick Dash sired two APHA world champions, including five-time world champion and #2 all-time leading APHA money earner Got Country Grip, earning $362,000 with ten stakes victories, and two-time world champion SM Country Snowman, who has $270,000 in the bank with seven stakes wins.

He sired many other racing greats during his APHA siring career with over $4 million in progeny earnings, 48 stakes wins, and 83 stakes placed horse from 296 starters.

In addition to siring Paint Horses, Country Quick Dash also sired $300,000 in Quarter Horse progeny, including Northwest Hi-Point Three-Year-Old Gelding BH Country Chrome, who earned $55,000 on the track.

Mullins owns his dam Country Zevi by Zevi (TB). She also produced champion runner and sire Country Chicks Man ($736,793), who is a half-brother to Country Quick Dash, amongst many other stakes winners.

Country Quick Dash stood to the public in 2024 with plans to enter the 2025 breeding season. He was a huge addition to the Mullins family and will be sorely missed.
