Stakes-Placed Apalole To Stand His Second Year At Sierra Blanca Equine

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–NOVEMBER 12, 2024–Owned by Hugo Sanchez, stakes-placed winner Apalole is moving from Morning Dew Ranch to stand his second year at Sierra Blanca Equine in Ruidoso, New Mexico. His fee is set at $1,500 for the 2025 season.

The ranch is offering a $250 discount if paid in full by February 1, 2025. Considerations are given to approved mares. The young stallion will be an Accredited New Mexico-bred sire.

Bred in Texas by Victor Sanchez, Apalole is out of the Oak Tree Special mare Like A Fine Oak. The son of world champion sire Apollitical Jess is a multiple winner and stakes-placed runner earning $62,666 on the track.

Apalole started his career in New Mexico in 2021 and broke his maiden in 2022 at Sunland Park in wire-to-wire fashion, setting his highest speed index of 98. He went on to win an Allowance in the same year.

The five-year-old horse’s last two outs were at Gillespie County Fair in 2023, where he placed second in the Hill Country Classic Stakes and was a finalist in the GCF Spring Classic Stakes.

His sire, world champion Apollitical Jess SI 107 ($1,399,831, Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1, etc.), is the nation’s #1 leading sire with 144 stakes winners, 14 champions, and earners of over $72.7 million in 11 crops to race.

Apollitical Jess' top performers include Kj Desparado SI 118 (champion twice, to 5, 2024, $3,178,099, All American Quarter Horse Futurity-G1, etc.), Apocalyptical Jess SI 103 (champion 3 times, $2,251,556, All AmericanFuturity-G1, etc.), Empressum SI 111 (World Champion Racing American QH, to 6, 2024, $2,158,873, Champion of Champions S.-G1, etc.), Apollitical Blood SI 99 (champion, $1,519,800, All American Derby-G1, etc.), etc.

Apalole is a half-brother to Grade 1 Ruidoso Futurity runner-up Fine Oak Corona SI 99 ($227,312). His dam Like A Fine Oak SI 106 is a three-time winning daughter of world champion and world champion sire Oak Tree Special ($628,470). She is a half-sister to four-time winner Diablos Cartel SI 106 ($46,918) and Smokum Homie SI 112 ($25,805)

His 2nd dam is the Takin On The Cash six-time winning mare Fb Kokopelli SI 102 ($17,364. The West/SW Hi-Point Aged Mare is a half-sister to Grade 3 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity winner Sail on Hawaii SI 95 ($81,055) and G3 placed Just Between Friends SI 97 ($44,432).

Watch for Apalole's first foals to hit the ground in 2025.
